The Village Island was rocked as it should be. With one of the finest line-ups in a while if I may say so myself. The night was reviewed at letsmakesomenoise.com, check out the nice words. There are some unsorted photos from the event at Mytty-Johanna's site. Find yourself there. Also; Ville from Blanket was interviewed by lmsn.com. But, most of all, thanks to everyone who showed up at Kyläsaarirok IV and welcome again next year. Later.

The planned release of Clark Kent's "Get Spencer"-EP will be postponed due to all kinds of exciting reasons. The Kyläsaarirok-festival will still be happening with all its might, and there's absolutely no reason for you not to come and check out one of the best band line-up's of the year! I ain't lying.

Aug_7_2003.

A set of very cool IFC "Rok-Like-Fuk" Clubs will be going on full steam during the weekend at Bar Alahuone. On Friday, the stage will be manned (or womanned) by four young bands: Bitch Alert, Ahma, Rujo and Rajah. Tickets for Friday are a cheap 4 euro. Whole lot of good quality metal coming your way.

On Saturday, the madness continues with a poppier line-up; featuring our very own Clark Kent, Passionworks, Papercranes and Headfirst. Tickets are 5 euro. Don't miss these!

Jun_3_2003.

Updates; Clark Kent is heavily working on its new EP; five tunes are recorded and the EP should be pressed and released before September. The CK video for "In The Beginning" is also finished and it will be up at the CK home page as soon as we can convert it to computer-friendly formats.

Blanket is heading for some summer time off; one music video might be in the works for "Hank the Killer" and some sort of low-key recording too. We'll see.

For those interested; we were also interviewed in full at the letsmakesomenoise.com webzine; the interview is in Finnish, it's lengthy, informatic and real too; it can be read by following this link right here. And of course another Kyläsaarirok is in production, so things are moving in a human kind of way. No need for dispair. Peace.

Apr_15_2003.

Some new releases; just cause we haven't updated these pages for a while doesn't mean that we've been doing nothing; see, not all is internet.

Vesilaitos has a smokin' new EP out called "Puolimatka". Four new songs with a new singer with super sounds and some new flavors. Order now from our IFC:Catalog at a very reasonable price. The EP has been hailed at least in Desibeli.net and LMSN.com.

Blanket recorded three songs in January and these songs make up the "7"-EP, which is also available for consumption at the IFC:Catalog.

Clark Kent will have a video out very soon at their www headquarters. That's something to look forward to. Stay tuned. We're all active like the military.

Anyways, try to make it next saturday to Wäiski, it should be a really good night. The tickets are 3 euro and you can get in around 2000 hrs. Hope to see you there!

Momentum gathering. The dorment rockers Blanket finally released their video for the song "Good King" yesterday. If you have a speedy net connection (or a lot of patience) you can check it out in various formats from their website's VIDEOs page. Also the cable station MoonTV should be showing it in the near future.

Preparations for the upcoming split-CD are well underway; Blanket and Vesilaitos have their material ready, Clark Kent and Varttisäkki will have their new stuff ready in a week or so. We're still pretty much on schedule and hope to have the CD out in mid-June.

Clark Kent was interviewed by YLE - the Finnish national broadcasting company - and they should be featured in the a episode of "Summeri" YLE's daily summer program. We don't yet know when it will be aired, but we'll let you know as soon we do.

Also, we have one gig to announce, Clark Kent and Blanket will be playing the Semifinal club in Helsinki on July 26th. A lot more IFC_gigs will be announced shortly; it should get really active after the summer. Stay tuned.

Apr_23_2002.

Hard at work. Finally, after a lot of talk, something nearly tangible; the home pages for the power pop wonders Clark Kent were opened today! Nothing too fancy, a possibility to hear more samples of their music and read some other info that might be of some interest to someone. Congratulations for the band as they finished a respectable 3rd place in this year's tightly contested Ääni & Vimma band contest.

Everyone's hard at work for the upcoming split-CD, Clark Kent are entering the studio tomorrow, Blanket next week and Vesilaitos later on. It should rock your pants. That's about it; stay tuned; check out and bookmark the cool CK site, it's getting active.

A new beginning for the Independent Fruit Company record label! Two great new bands: Clark Kent and Vesilaitos, these new home pages and lots of plans for the future.

We are happy to have two promising young bands joining our little label. Clark Kent is a Helsinki-based rock band with members from the late punk-wonder Epidemic. It's a fresh band with huge talent, check out their MP3 from the revised IFC::Bands page. More MP3's will be available as we get their home pages done.

Vesilaitos (Waterworks in English) is an experienced Finnish-singing band also based in Helsinki. They've gigged quite a lot and have released three self-financed EP's to date. A MP3 sample of their anger can be found at the IFC::Bands where you can also find a link to more music at Vesilaitos' own home pages.

With its new-found enthusiasm we plan to release a split-CD featuring three songs from all four IFC bands. We hope to have the CD out before the summer. We'll keep you updated on that. In other news; Varttisäkki released a new EP/LP "Korea", which can be purchased from the IFC::Catalog page. "Korea" has gotten great reviews in the press, Rumba and Aktivist magazine gave it three stars out of five, which is really good for an independent release.

Blanket's first-ever music video for the song "Good King" will be out in few weeks, follow your local cable stations and the Blanket home page to check out the masterpiece. :) That's about it; hope you enjoy the new pages and the new bands; we know we do. Come see our gigs and keep checking these pages; they will be updated more frequently in the future as we're getting more active in our mission. Stay tuned.

Nov_23_2001.

A few clouds of fresh steam in the IFC engine as we bring a few updates; the IFC.Catalog page has been updated with an easier ordering interface and a cool new release: the rok band Blanket has been advancing in leaps and the evidence can be found on their brand-new five-song EP "5". Get yours now, as a real disc eats mp3's for breakfast, especially as the Blanket EP is a CD-EXTRA which stands for "a bunch of cool multimedia content a ka 'crap' included". Surf on to the Catalog and consume.

Varttisäkki has some sort of release coming out; they're on a bit of a break as Johgu is hanging out in Prague for the autumn.

Thanks all the bands who have sent demos to us; keep them coming as we are looking for a band or two who could benefit from what little we know or can do. Stay tuned, we plan to get more active as we figure out how to sleep less. Take care.

Jun_20_2001.

Again, long time - no content, sorry about this. Everything is still moving along quite nicely; the pages moved to a new home at the creativity_platform nomasi.com a while back.

Blanket has been quite busy doing gigs, winning band competitions :), and they'll be shooting a music video in August and recording some more music later on in October.

Varttisäkki has been in and out of the studio all spring, the last word is that six new rockin' songs have been recorded. They already one song available at their homepage - check it out. Also, a IFC night at Semifinal is scheduled to happen sometime in August... We'll let you know of the details when we know more.

Good content; IFC has arranged two little festivals known as the Kyläsaarirok's and we managed to record last year's show on digi8-track, mp3's of the show can be downloaded and listened to from the Kyläsaari LIVE! page. Check it out, it's all real and pnuk too.

Big thanks to everybody who has sent us their demos over the spring, we listen hard to them all and play them over to our friends. We can't offer much at least money-wise at this point, but if we find a good rocking band that we like, we'll most certainly try to arrange some gigs with them and some IFC bands.

Ok, that's about it for now, listen hard to the Live tracks and hopefully the next update will be within this year. Be safe.

Nov_27_2000.

An unexcusable amount of time has passed since we last updated these pages. This doesn't mean that we've just been loitering around: just a few weeks ago IFC organized the second annual Kyläsaarirok festival with great success and the IFC bands have been busy.

Blanket has been playing some good gigs and just finished recording two blazing new songs at the Harju Studio in Helsinki. MP3's should be up on MP3.COM within a week or so. Also, a bunch of new gigs are in the cards, as Blanket welcomes a new member to the crime family. Tuukka will take charge of booking the band to weddings and bar mitzwah's around the country. Super. Also, IFC had to put out some raging rumors in the Blanket Guestbook. :)

Varttisäkki has been on hiatus for the autumn as their singer/guitarist has been out of the country, but they will be doing a tour in Germany in December, a follow up tour of some sorts to the ground-breaking tour of Lithuania of last summer. Not bad for a band who sings in Finnish! Shows how music is basically universal... Check their web site for details on their future.

And after five months of effort, Ulmala finally released their fantastic new EP "Tee Minusta Kaupat". To support this very professional release, the guys decided to form their own label "Paroni" and release the new EP under it. Also, their own web site should be up within a few weeks at www.ulmala.com. We wish this new label and the new EP all the best, hope we were able to help you guys somehow and hope you get the attention you deserve.

And for some smiles, check out this mail IFC has been receiving in the last few months; this fruit company is closely considering the offers, thanks.

Apr_3_2000.

Been a while since we've last updated these pages, but a lot has been going meanwhile. We are very proud to introduce the latest signing of this smashing label of ours, ladies and gentleman, ULMALA! Their latest EP has been added to the IFC.catalog. Supercool.

Also Blanket has finally put the finishing touches on their new EP, "3". Naturally this product can also be purchased from our catalog at a very reasonable price.

That's about it... Hope you check all the new stuff, there's an IFC gig in the plans and the net radio transmission is coming up sometime pretty soon now. Later.

Jan_23_2000.

The finishing touch has been put on these pages, the catalog is in tact (still a bit short) and most important of all, a great young band, Varttisäkki has joined the label! Wow! Great to have some company in this little fruit company of ours.

In the future, we see: Blanket entering the studio in the end of the month, a net radio transmission, plus some gigs maybe... Something good we hope. See you.

Dec_28_1999.

The Independent Fruit Company Webpages are finally finished. Now that we have built some sort of foundation for the project we'll concentrate on the real issues, finding a few great bands for the label and maybe some other good stuff to distribute or something. It'll come to us, stay active. Later.
